Big Relief for Consumers: Electricity Rates Cut Across Pakistan

Electricity consumers across Pakistan will receive relief after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved a reduction of Rs. 1.99 per unit in electricity tariffs under the quarterly adjustment mechanism.

According to a notification issued by NEPRA, the reduction has been granted on account of the quarterly adjustment for the January to March 2026 period.

The tariff cut will remain effective for three months, from June through August 2026, and will apply to consumers across the country, including customers of K Electric.

The regulator said the reduction in electricity rates will provide cumulative relief of approximately Rs. 67.17 billion to consumers during the implementation period.

The adjustment has been made as part of the quarterly tariff review process, under which actual costs are compared with previously determined rates and any differences are passed on to consumers. The reduction is expected to lower electricity bills for millions of consumers during the three month period.

  • Wow Bilal is high again. Can someone sober him up.

1.99 is peanuts compared to fixed charges and high charges imposed on the grid.
